Garden of Many Cultures
Artist: Julie Stoneman
sculpture
2010
Location: Tolosa Park
This artwork consists of a series of five 3.5m high metal rings, representing the connectedness of people throughout the world and inspired by friendship braids, a universal symbol of harmony. The rings are the colours of the Australian bush, hues of red, yellow, orange and green, the colours of growth, diversity and change in the bush and in our community. The sculpture is situated in a garden also designed by the artist Julie Stoneman, with dry stone seating and interpretation panels.
Entitled Garden of Many Cultures, the garden celebrates and promotes cultural diversity in Glenorchy.
