The design of these friendly sculptures was inspired by interviews and drawing workshops with members of our community including school students, community groups and local businesses.
The theme of the artwork is the importance of family and belonging. The sculptures celebrate Glenorchy as a supportive, inclusive, diverse and welcoming community. They are unique and reflect the community of Glenorchy.
The artwork was launched in November 2020. Students from Austins Ferry Primary School celebrated the launch with artist Matt Calvert and Mayor Kristy Johnston. These students were involved in the drawing workshops that inspired the designs, and were delighted to see the finished artworks.
