About Us

Glenorchy (in Tasmania, Australia) is a creative community. Arts and culture are central to our collective identity. We are famous as the home of MONA, but we are also rich in smaller collectives, community-based projects, individual artists and diverse cultural practices. We have a long history of people with stories to tell — from the First Tasmanians to recent migrants from all over the world.
This site is a place to showcase community creativity in Glenorchy — people, stories, culture and arts. The site is managed by Moonah Arts Centre, owned and operated by Glenorchy City Council. The projects featured on this site are based in Glenorchy, but they are ideally suited to digital space. They highlight and share our stories, heritage, experiences and dreams.
If you have a project that you think fits the bill, please let us know! Get in touch with a brief description of your project and tell us why you think it would make a great Glenorchy Arts & Culture feature.

We acknowledge that we are on Muwinina country. We recognise the value of continuing Aboriginal knowledge and cultural practice in Glenorchy and beyond, and acknowledge the contemporary Tasmanian Aboriginal community who continue to maintain their Indigenous rights, identity, and ancient and irreplaceable culture.
